ELK GROVE, Calif. – November 21, 2019 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) received a prestigious 2019 California Educational Research Association’s (CERA) Educational Leadership Service Award for the district’s work in improving instructional practices. Each year, CERA accepts nominations for outstanding leadership for finding and implementing innovations in learning system efficacy and efficiency in the areas of instruction, assessment, evaluation, conducting and applying educational research and using data to inform instructional decisions.
Humbled being the recipient of the award and privileged to be part of the EGUSD team of exceptional educators, EGUSD Deputy Superintendent of Education Services and Schools proudly stated, “Elk Grove Unified has a long history of insisting upon challenging the status quo and diligently striving to continuously improve its services for all students and families. The District’s Department of Research and Evaluation are engaging in incredibly innovative work that enables us to increasingly understand the impact of our educational efforts and use this information to make strategic and targeted programmatic improvements, which we believe will result in significantly positive outcomes for students. I’m ever so grateful to be a part of this amazing work.”
The CERA encourages higher education and PK-12 educational institutions to submit nominations for four Educational Leadership Awards. This year’s conference theme is “Visualizing California’s Educational Future: Moving from Data to Action.” All nominees should demonstrate abilities and leadership skills to shape education toward a promising future for all students with increased collaboration between all sectors of education, preschool through higher education; implementation of rigorous content standards and challenging instruction in diverse classroom settings; improved engagement with students, parents or members of the school community; increased attention to cultural competence and the effective use of formative and/or interim assessment information to improve teaching and learning.
