Energy Harvesting Market – Overview
Energy harvesting is the procedure of seizing and keeping energy as and when it is present that can be used later in both low-voltage and low-power applications. In the epoch of the internet of things (IoT), wireless sensor networks that observe, discover, and store data will show an important role in advancement in public safety, human healthcare, industrial automation, and energy management. Batteries are the power source for operating wireless network devices due to their easiness of setting up and they are deliberated to be a crucial factor for emerging wearable technologies. It is in abundant demand in numerous uses that call for back-up battery, particularly if the battery is in distant place. Also, it is predictable that energy harvesting will deliver new market applications and products that are at present unavailable. The solar, lighting, signage, sensor etc. road and other surfaces will outclass as part of modular concrete or plastic road surface units that are factory assembled.
The key players in the market of Energy Harvesting Market are – Levant Power Corporation (U.S.), Honeywell International, Inc. (U.S.), Green Peak Technologies (Netherlands), Fujitsu (Japan), ABB Limited (Switzerland), Arveni (France), Enocean (Germany), Microchip Technology, Inc., (U.S.), Texas Instruments Inc. (U.S.), ST Microelectronics (Switzerland) among others, are profiled in Market Research Future Analysis and are at the forefront of competition in the global energy harvesting market.
In December 2015, Fujitsu announced the field trail for energy harvesting. In March 2015, Perpetua Power Source Technologies, Inc. announced the energy harvester for use with Honeywell product.

Industry News
January 2018, Solar Nigeria programme. The UK Government Department for International Development has implemented the Solar Nigeria Programme to improve the welfare outcomes of the currently underserved communities in Lagos state and Northern Nigeria by making a significant financial contribution towards the solar power electrification of public institutions, such as schools and hospitals. The intervention is expected to, by year 2020, ensure improved welfare outcomes for more than 2.8 million people using domestic solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, with 190,000 school pupils and 4.7 million clinic patients benefiting from public institutions with PV systems, creating more than 3000 jobs and ensuring greater effectiveness of DFID’s other health and educational sector intervention in Nigeria.
January 2018, Introducing the Vehicle Energy Harvesting System. The Vehicle Energy Harvesting System (VEHS) has established an innovative link that leverages traffic-flow to improve electricity access. The VEHS uses a specially designed overlay layer onto any existing or new road to harvest pressure and uses this pressure to drive a traffic turbine and generate electricity. The system can be installed and commissioned within six months thus ensuring quicker access to electricity. Over-and-above the improved electricity access, the simplistic design of the VEHS will enable local assembly and a strategic progression to local manufacture.
January 2018, Graphene sensors that could revolutionise the Internet of Things. Researchers at the University of Manchester have devised graphene sensors embedded into RFIDs, which have the potential to revolutionise the Internet of Things (IoT). By layering graphene-oxide (a derivative of graphene) over graphene to create a flexible Heterostructure, the team have developed humidity sensors for remote sensing with the ability to connect to any wireless network. The developed technique has the potential to simplify how the information is gathered through its wireless system, nor is it is limited to a particular wireless network and has the ability to be compatible with networks including WiFi and 5G.
