All the surfers would know the hassle of carrying a surfboard during airline travels, and that too along with other luggage. Not to mention the risk of damaging or even breaking the surfboard during luggage handling operations. But their worries are about to be over because Global Boardriderz has created a highly functional and multi-purpose surfboard bag that not only fits the surfboard with ease but also other luggage items such as clothing, accessories, etc. The product is first introduced on Indiegogo and seeks funding of $20,000.
Surfboard Luggage Bag will address the problem of boards breaking during baggage handling operations. Dean Gossip, the founder of the project had his own surfboard break on a flight during a trip to Kangaroo Island which is when he thought of creating a better way to carry a surfboard in airlines. A few similar incidents with his surfer friends also reinforced the idea of building a travel bag, especially designed for surfboards.
Global Boardriderz surfboard bag comes with three separate compartments. One of the compartments can accommodate two surfboards while the other two can be used to carry clothes and travel items like wetsuits, towels etc. These two compartments, when filled with soft luggage also act as a cushioning to the surfboard and protect it from breaking. The surfboard compartment also comes with 6mm high-density foam lining on all sides with an additional layer of foam between the two boards. A hard-polyurethane film is also added to the bag, that works with the soft layer to provide double protection to the boards.
The top compartment contains storage cells for surf accessories including one cell that’s waterproof for the short-term storage of damp wetsuits and towels when necessary. In addition, the internal compression straps keep the boards firmly and securely in place while the external compression straps keep all the other gear such as clothes, towels, and wetsuits in place to provide extra protection to the boards. The multiple compartments of the bag eliminate the need for carrying multiple bags for clothes, surfing accessories etc., making it easier for the user to carry just one bag with all their stuff and also reducing the cost on airlines that charge extra for multiple bags.
Global Boardriderz Surfboard bag is now available for pre-order at early bird discounted price of $300. Once the campaign is funded, the Surfboard bag is estimated to be shipped in July 2019.
