TORONTO – 1907 Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Hafeez Ladha to its Canadian board of trustees. He joins the organization’s governing body that steers its strategic direction and ethical practices.
Ladha is a healthcare and climate investment advisor serving traditional institutional investors, impact funds, and development finance institutions. He brings expertise in the nonprofit and government sectors, as he has previously served the Boston Consulting Group, MedAccess, and the World Bank.
“We are very excited to welcome Hafeez Ladha to the Canadian team,” said 1907 Foundation founder and CEO Adam Pieczonka. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ladha in the past and know that he will bring fresh, innovative opinions and push 1907 Foundation to scale and maximize its impact.”
The organization’s board members skew younger than most non-profits with members’ median age in the mid-30s. Pieczonka feels this allows 1907 Foundation to consider new, innovative methods to make an impact by supporting young, emerging scientists. Ladha resonates with this need for a new approach to mental health research and advocacy.
“Our society’s approach to mental health funding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment has failed,” Ladha said. “There is a dearth of knowledge surrounding the drivers of mental health challenges and limited access to treatment relative to other aspects of human health, and it has led to huge limitations on our healthcare system’s ability to serve its community.”
