The Handler Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for awareness and research of HER2 positive and NNN breast cancers, is thrilled to announce its 2nd annual fundraising event, “A Night Out with 1 North.” The event aims to provide a well-deserved evening of appreciation for the dedicated staff of Huntington Hospitals Cancer Center (known as 1 North) while raising funds for the Lauren Handler research fund in collaboration with Northwell Health. The event is scheduled for August 17, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The primary purpose of “A Night Out with 1 North” is to express gratitude to the compassionate staff at Huntington Hospitals Cancer Center, who tirelessly care for cancer patients in the community. The event provides a complementary night out as a token of appreciation for their unwavering dedication.
Simultaneously, the event is a fundraising platform to support the Lauren Handler research fund. Established in 2022 through a generous $25,000 donation from the Handler Hope Foundation, this fund partners with Northwell Health to propel the research efforts of the Chief of Neurosurgery, Dr. Kerr, and Chief of Radiation Medicine, Dr. Zinken. Their groundbreaking research aims to prove that routine monitoring and detection of HER2-positive and NNN breast cancers can significantly improve the prognosis for patients battling these aggressive subtypes.

In keeping with their commitment to supporting cancer research, Handler Hope Foundation has pledged a total donation of $75,000 to the Northwell Health Lauren Handler research fund in 2023. The foundation has already made its initial installment of $25,000 in April. The upcoming “A Night Out with 1 North” event will mark the second installment of $25,000, with the final installment of $25,000 scheduled for December.
