The Hangzhou Justice Bureau received a letter of thanks from a Hangzhou citizen living in Los Angeles on Dec 28, 2020.
LA’s Mrs Wu wrote the letter, in which she expressed thanks to the bureau for its remote notarization services provided to her and her husband Mr Qiu.
The couple, both of whom are over 70 years old, are now working and living in the United States. They had a house in Jiande, a county-level city in Hangzhou, and decided to sell it in 2019. They soon found a buyer and reached an agreement.
However, the then unexpected COVID-19 pandemic restricted them from going back to China to deal with the relevant transaction procedures. Both the buyer and sellers were very anxious then.
Afterwards, Wu heard that the notarization department could provide remote services and asked her younger brother to make an inquiry. The notarization department agreed to provide remote service after concluding that they met the requirements.
The time difference added to the difficulty of the bilateral negotiation. Thanks to the patience shown by the workers at the notarization department, Wu received the notarization certificate in an orderly manner.
As of now, the Hangzhou China notarization department has provided remote services for citizens from more than 60 countries.
