BASEBALL AND THE BALLERINA, a family-friendly dramedy starring a young Hallie Kate Eisenberg, best known for her appearances in several late-’90s Pepsi television ads, has received a classic remaster and will premiere on premium VOD and streaming platforms on June 17.
BASEBALL AND THE BALLERINA tells the story of an aspiring baseball pro who finds his life take a sharp and unexpected turn when he suddenly becomes the sole caregiver for his young daughter. While the pair are at first unable to find common ground, they gradually learn from each other and begin building a life together. The heartfelt daddy-daughter movie manages to tackle such weighty issues as single parenting, a young girl’s struggle to develop her own identity, and acceptance of one’s life circumstances – the good and the bad – and learning how to deal with them without becoming bitter.
After the death of his wife, mechanic Ed Mills (Benjamin King -Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie; Grey’s Anatomy) devotes himself to his young daughter, Abby (Eisenberg – Bicentennial Man; The Insider). Having shelved his own major league baseball aspirations, the former rookie pours all his knowledge of the sport into Abby. When Abby expresses an interest in ballet, Ed’s newly rekindled focus on his frustrated career doesn’t jibe with his daughter’s needs, despite help from the his well-meaning neighbor, Nancy (Kathy Baker – Picket Fences; Medium). BASEBALL AND THE BALLERINA is a tender drama that most people will be able to relate to, either from the viewpoint of a parent or a child.

Written and directed by Kara Harshbarger, the film also stars Jared Padalecki (CW’s Supernatural; Gilmore Girls), Amanda Detmer (TV’s Private Practice; Necessary Roughness), Wayne Duvall (HBO’s The Leftovers; The Good Wife), and Frankie Faison (HBO’s The Wire; The Good Wife). Hallie Eisenberg gained notarity for starring in a series of popular Pepsi commercials in the late 90s. She is also the younger sister of Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network; Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).
