Los Angeles, CA (November 22, 2017) – From entertainment headlines to your television screen.
Films, conferences, deals, and more: November 1 – November 8 began the 2017 American Film Market –the world’s largest motion picture trade fair and conference for independent filmmakers and business people held in Santa Monica, CA.
TriCoast Worldwide proudly represented several films for international sales, and is excited to bring the film industry’s recent scandals to screens with Kathleen Kinmont’s ‘FAME GAME’, the first-ever female perspective on the diverse and global issue of sexual harassment inside the walls of the film industry.
2017 has been noted as the year of allegations involving an inexplicit, sexual nature within the film industry. Actors, comedians, world CEOs, film journalists and Hollywood’s elite members have taken world headlines by storm, with new statements coming to light each day.
Born and raised in Los Angeles alongside her ‘60s TV superstar mother, Abby Dalton, Kinmont was surrounded by, and subjected to, the overall dominance of powerful Hollywood men, learning the compromises and price of success within the film industry at a young age. Kinmont was also a personal friend of Lana Clarkson, who was killed by Phil Spector after being lured to his house. She has first hand knowledge of how brutal it can get out there in the “fame game”.
Long before bombshell of allegations against Hollywood’s men, Kinmont has continually stood up against sexual harassment in the best way she knew how – by making a show about it. Kinmont has written and directed the emotional yet vibrant pilot for the television series, ‘FAME GAME’, documenting the dark side of Hollywood – inspired and based on real-life stories of today’s victims.
“It has nothing to do with gender, race, or religion. It is a diverse and global problem that needed to be addressed long before now,” said Kinmont.
Produced by Mali Monae and Kathleen Kinmont and Executive Produced by Payam Pedram with star Kristanna Loken, this half hour drama series follows young actresses, Sasha and Jules, through the lure of Hollywood fame, lights, and money, hoping to become the superstars of their dreams but finding Hollywood is “just one block south of the Stripper Pole”.
Speaking on Hollywood’s recent inappropriate sexual behaviors, Kinmont said, “The practice is so prevalent, our union [SAG] even has a sexual harassment hot line set up to help their members not become victims on the set”.
Kinmont is Best known to viewers for roles in “Santa Barbara”, “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers”, “Renegade”, and “That Thing You Do!”.
Series Premise: When the beautiful model Sasha moves from Norway to Los Angeles to become an actress, she enters the men’s club of Hollywood, where sexual abuse is a daily occurrence and victim’s voices are silenced by career threats. With the desire to pursue acting and a need for survival money, Sasha falls from innocence, as many of today’s Hollywood stars do. Jules, her strong-willed feminist cousin, helps Sasha navigate these shark-infested waters and preserve both her dignity and her career.
“FAME GAME” has a remarkable cast, including producer, Monae (“Human”, “Sister Deathwish”), Kristanna Loken (“Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines”, “BloodRayne”), Adrienne Wilkinson (“Star Trek: Renegades”, “Star Wars” franchise), Kevin P. Farley (“The Waterboy”, “Eight Crazy Nights”), David Leisure (“Airplane!”, “10 Things I Hate About You”), John Kassir (“Tales from the Crypt”, “Pete’s Dragon”, “The Three Stooges”), Jasmine Waltz (“Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser”), and Rayford Sewell (“Hawaii Five-0”, “Longmire”).
“FAME GAME” tackles this diverse, global issue in hopes to inspire world discussion where victims of sexual assault should be able to confidently voice the truth and overcome their terrorizing and inexcusable actions.
