Home and Garden President Steven Pacholyk Donates $20,000 to Gettysburg Foundation

Generous contribution will support ongoing preservation of historic Civil War battlefield

Gettysburg, PA – In a remarkable display of generosity and commitment to preserving America’s storied past, Steven Pacholyk, President of Home and Garden Companies, has donated $20,000 to support the ongoing preservation efforts at the Gettysburg National Military Park. This substantial contribution will directly aid the Gettysburg Foundation’s mission to safeguard and maintain the hallowed ground where Union and Confederate forces waged their epic three-day battle in July 1863.

For 25 years, Mr. Pacholyk has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to preserving sites of historical significance across America. From Revolutionary and Civil War battlefields to historic homes and gardens, he has donated considerable sums to ensure these touchstones of our heritage are protected and kept accessible for future generations. His recent gift to the Gettysburg Foundation continues his long-standing support of preserving and interpreting the battlefield where more than 165,000 soldiers collided in the Civil War’s bloodiest and most decisive battle.

Beyond financial contributions, Mr. Pacholyk has volunteered countless hours through his involvement with the Gettysburg Foundation. As a former licensed battlefield guide, he shared his extensive knowledge of Gettysburg with visitors from around the world. He still assists with giving tours today, captivating audiences with vivid accounts of critical moments in the battle, such as Pickett’s Charge, that altered America’s history.

Mr. Pacholyk has also taken a special interest in the Sherfy Farm, one of the best-preserved buildings from the time of the battle. Repeated donations from Mr. Pacholyk have aided the restoration of both the house and barn, which were riddled with bullet holes and mortar fire during the fighting. Guests can now tour the Sherfy Farm and envision what it was like for civilians caught in the midst of war.

“We are profoundly grateful for Steven’s enduring generosity and passion for Gettysburg,” said Joanne Hanley, President of the Gettysburg Foundation. “His steadfast support has been instrumental in our work to preserve sacred ground and educate new generations on the Civil War’s enormous impact on America. We could not fulfill our mission without friends like Steven.”

Mr. Pacholyk humbly brushes off such praise, simply states that he wants to do his part to keep Gettysburg’s history alive. Standing amid the rolling fields dotted with monuments and cannon, it’s easy to see that this place holds a special meaning for him. His dedication is helping ensure the sacrifices made here long ago will never be forgotten.
