“Immersive”, or “interactive”, is not just the name of an industry, it represents a transformative thought of design and a philosophy of narration. Recent McKinsey researches have shown that consumers around the world are shifting their consumption customs from purchasing to experiencing.
For a long time, there is a nodus in immersive digital performance domain, namely, how to arouse participants’ total engagement in establishing and building a sense of participation and connection with performative works, whilst they become part of the work itself and not just bystanders. Over the past 20 years, scientific institutions have spent heavily on developing technologies to solve this problem.
Recently, we have got some exciting news from an Asian team from the Far East led by the founder of Huiyan Technologies, educated at ZJSU and has begun the research work on computer graphics during undergraduate period. The team has received more than ¥20 million state funds. Huiyan Technologies has successfully developed and commercialized a multi-view multi-person computer vision motion capture system. The system can capture real-time movements of the participants, triggering the corresponding artistic special effects to realize the participants’ immersive and embodied experience, which is a inspirational pioneering undertaking in the history of performance. In the stage performance scene, the application of the system will greatly reduce the time for the actors to rehearse with the stage design and present a more brilliant performance effect. The system was highly praised by Yun-he PAN, executive vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
We believe that Huiyan Technologies would play a significant role in providing key technologies for immersive digital performances like Motion Analysis and Optitrack.
