I AM WOMAN PROVERBS 31 MINISTRY (IAWPROV31) has announced its 2nd ANNUAL WOMEN 2 WOMEN 26TH DAY OF GIVING (W2W-26 Day). This year: Breaking the Silence Against Domestic Violence, to be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the 1377 6th street NW Winter Haven FL 3880 at 6:00 pm. Like the previous year, this annual charity event that happens in lieu of celebrating the founder’s birthday will give back to those in need by engaging as many organizations as possible to assist in providing services and/or sponsorship to an organization of IAWPROV31’s choice. This year the beneficiary is The Women’s Resource Center of Florida, an organization with a mission to provide a variety of services to women and their families in crisis and to help them gain self- sufficiency.
As a part of the W2W-26 Day charity event, the members of IAWPROV31 will be volunteering their time to the Women Resource Center of Florida. This center provides each client with valuable assistance that to enhance their current situation through immediate services, while empowering them to become productive members within their community. The center helps women and their families during times of crisis and transition. They offer programs that help clients rewrite their stories and start living a life that makes them proud and independent.
IAWPROV31 is using its annual charity event to bring awareness about domestic abuse and its impact on women and families. In the US domestic abuse is reported as the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 which is alarming. It is also unfortunate that there are only 1,500 shelters for battered women seeking refuge as compared to 3,800 animal shelters (Schneider, 1990). Sadly, battering occurs among people of all races, ages, socio-economic classes, religious affiliations, occupations, and education.

Last year IAWPROV31 donated time to the Homeless Coalition of Central Florida including the hosting of a Vision Board party for the homeless women at the facility.
