Dillan Mohottige, an innovator and inventor from Orlando, Florida took to the popular crowdfunding platform for creative and innovative project – Kickstarter to raise support and funds for his newest invention: Twist-it. Twist-it is a simple and more effective kitchen utensil that preserves, stores, measures and dispenses. Dillan has set up his crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with a funding goal of at least $15,000 USD by Mon, Jul 4 2016.
Talking about his invention, Dillan said: “I wanted to design a kitchen too, that naturally forced the user to be neat. I am a Sri Lankan and eating a lot of rice and drinking a lot tea is a part of my lifestyle, I find that when I cook with different spices, I tend to make things very messy because I use one spoon for all of my spice jars which results in mixing the spices and making a mess. However, the Twist-it eliminated the need for measuring spoons and containers. Its streamlined structure prevents spills during the measuring process. I am raising funds for mass production of the final version of the Twist it Granular measuring dispenser.”
Twist-it has a unique twisting system dispenses a measured amount of the granules stored inside. The Twist-it dispenser has been designed to not only reduce mess, but also preserve the flavor of the ingredients kept inside such as spices which tend to lose their flavor and aroma when exposed to air, the kitchen tool design features an airtight container with a convenient window. Dillan has already developed a functioning prototype of the Twist-it and is in the process of testing and finalizing various design and performance tweaks after which the product will be ready for production
The ongoing Kickstarter with a $15,000 funding goal has seen steady progress since its launch. However the campaign has a long way to go to reach its goals, Dillan is looking towards the generosity of the online crowd who are support products that simplify daily tasks through their innovative design. The funds raised through the current crowdfunding campaign will be allocated to various aspects necessary for the completion of the product for customer use. A variety of different rewards and perks are also being offered to prize the generosity of those who support the campaign and the project through their monetary contributions the rewards.
