Marc Zboch has endowed a new scholarship meant to support students with a passion for helping others. Zboch has a great amount of experience in community service, including missionary work, justice reform and self-sustaining agricultural projects in developing countries.
The $1,000 scholarship can be won by current college students pursuing graduate or undergraduate studies. High school seniors accepted to an institution of higher learning are also eligible.
The scholarship is intended for students who have a strong interest in giving back to their community. Students can participate in a wide variety of community support activities, including clubs, national organizations, and local initiatives.
The scholarship committee requires that students write a 500-word essay answering the following prompt:
“Tell us about a meaningful experience where you were able to help others?“
Zboch wants students to reflect on their experiences with community service and to think about their aspirations for the future. While students compose the essay, they are encouraged to consider how they may help those in need during their university years and in their adult lives.
Zboch decided to offer the scholarship because he saw a clear need for educational funding and he hopes that more students will discover the joy of serving others. Many students are going into debt to continue their education, and Marc hopes that students will apply for his scholarship as a way of defraying some of their costs.
The deadline to apply for the Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship is February 1, 2021. Upon notification, the winner will have two weeks to respond to the scholarship committee.
