ELK GROVE, Calif. – August 14, 2019 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) Board of Education recognized members of the Monterey Trail High School Track and Field team for the accolades they received during the 2018-2019 school year. The team finished second overall in the CIF Track & Field State Champion, which is the highest recognition ever for an EGUSD team.
The Boys 4 X 400 Meter Relay Team was ranked as Masters Champions. The Boy’s 4 X 100 Meter Relay Team received the State Championship, the second team ever to win this event within the last 20 years from the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. Additionally, Zachary Larrier was the Masters Champion and the winner of the State Championship in the Boy’s 400 Meter Dash. The last winner from the Sac-Joaquin region was in 1974.
