Music Beats Cancer, a 501(c)3 charity, will launch the #MusicBeatsCancer Challenge on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14, 2022, at 8 a.m. EST, to honor loved ones who have battled, or continue to battle, cancer. Participating musicians will compete to raise the most money for cancer-fighting innovations until Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. EST.
The Challenge aims to help support biotech innovators working on badly needed solutions for cancer but lack the requisite funds to move forward. The ultimate goal is to improve outcomes for loved ones with cancer. The Challenge, currently comprised of 21 artists and counting, also offers emerging artists a unique opportunity to align their voices with a worthy cause and reach a broader audience.
The top four artists who raise the most funds above the minimum $1,000 will get a 60-second streaming spot on the iHeartRadio App, with 1.4 million unique listeners per month. The 60-second spots will stream to iHeart listeners in New York City on Alternative, Classic Rock, Country, Hip Hop, R&B, Soft Rock, and Top 40 Pop stations during April and May. Check the Music Beats Cancer Leaderboard to find out which artists are in the lead in real-time.
Funds raised through #MusicBeatsCancer Challenge will be used to match 1:1 cancer-fighting campaigns on our platform up to $12,500.
“Too many families have been burdened by cancer, if not directly, then through people they love,” said Dr. Mona Jhaveri, founder of Music Beats Cancer. “We want to change this. We want to dramatically improve how great ideas born out of cancer research labs get translated into medical innovations for people battling cancer because this is where our war on cancer is breaking down.”
Music Beats Cancer’s mission is to increase the number of cancer-fighting technologies in the product-development pipeline so that more solutions make it to those in need. The nonprofit empowers people to support the advancement of new solutions and promising treatments for cancer. Doing so addresses the “Valley of Death,” the severe funding gap that commonly forces entrepreneurs advancing cancer-fighting inventions to abandon their work. Most of these projects will fail before they get a chance to prove their possibility, not because their science is bad, but because they lack the funding to succeed.
Music Beats Cancer operates and owns the challenge, which is not an iHeartRadio contest. All rules and regulations of the FCC will be followed. Funds received before or after the competition period will NOT be counted towards the Challenge. No donations will be refunded.
All funds raised through the Music Beats Cancer Challenge support the Community Mega Fund, a fund that matches, dollar for dollar, donations made to the cancer-fighting campaigns:
