Natalac (nee Sheldon M. Davis) began recording and founded his own independent label in 1997, following a stint in the United States Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank of Corporal before leaving. His debut album, Do Whacha No U Shud, had a popular song, “Fire in Florida,” about disenfranchisement of voters during the 2000 presidential election, to which even the NAACP paid attention.
His follow up 2003 album Bare Truth, was less successful, due to the lead single, “Step Daddy” having the same name as the hit song by Hitman Sammy Sam, but in 2005 Hidden Agenda did far better. This album spawned the hit single “Pimp of the City.”
Following it was the 2010 LP entitled The Answers (from which the single “Money Girl” featuring Black Hillbilly came) next year two 2011 releases – a greatest hits album (The Best of Natalac); and a South Carolina Artists collection called “South Carolina Exposed: The Best of South Carolina hosted by DJ Prince Ice”.
A Pimp Named Slickback That’s Natalac, released 2013 , was entitled so as an ode to the Boondocks a minor character, A Pimp Named Slickback. “There Is Only One Natalac, So Google Me” followed the next year. The single “STAAAACKS (Stacks of Money)” came from thence.
On May 16th 2016 The Natalac Experience which spawned the single “Rates ft Mr. Smith aka Boss Money,” and a 2017 Christmas album called Merry Pimpmas: Christmas Carols.
