China’s first National Police Day was held on Jan 10, in which police officers were honored nationwide for maintaining public security.
The holiday is designed to give full recognition to the police for their heroic struggles to uphold the interests of the public. The selection of the date relates to the police hotline 110.
The Zhejiang security authorities held an activity to mark the special holiday. They invited several wives of policemen to share their stories. Here’s part of what they shared.
Yu Ying, wife of Sheng Yongfeng, who is a policeman at the Cangqian Police Station in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province.
“We have been together for 11 years,” said Yu Ying. “We should shoulder our responsibility to be a policeman or a wife of a policeman since when we are making this choice. On this occasion, I want to convey my best wishes to all policemen and to the country.”
Zhang Xiaoxie, wife of Chen Yuanbin, who is a policeman at the Qianjiang On-water Police Station in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province.
“When my husband is on duty, how I can help is to take good care of our parents and children,” said Zhang Xiaoxie. “It is what I can do to contribute my share to society.”
Lu Fei, wife of Lin Xinyong, a policeman at the Jianggan Branch of Hangzhou Public Security Bureau.
“Police is the most sacred profession in an age of peace,” said Lu Fei. “I feel happy to be a wife of a police officer. My husband has always been proud of being a policeman, and all I want to say is that I will always stand besides him. I wish all policemen a happy National Police Day.”
Lu Wei, wife of Shen Tuguang, a policeman at the Linjiang Police Station in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province.
“National Police Day is a national recognition of Chinese policemen,” said Lu Wei. “I hope that all policemen will keep moving forward and create greater achievements. I wish safety and happiness for all policemen.”
