On the occasion of the launch of his new anticipated book we met with Netanel Semrik, publisher, founder of the international house for publishing, Contento Now, which provides publishing services for entrepreneurs, businessmen and startups who wish to tell the triumphant story of their professional and personal lives.
In these days of the pandemic, do people have more time to watch stories?

The new era allows more time to produce stories?

How will the book industry recover? For the first time this year, the Israeli Book Week did not take place?
“I believe that this is also an industry that must now reinvent itself, sooner rather than later. Not only are physical book fairs undergoing transformation, international book fairs are also moving to digital media. This year, for the first time in a decade, we are not meeting in person with our colleagues at the China International Book Fair. This fair is also moving to digital this year. That’s why the shift in consciousness from ‘book’ to ‘story’. From the ‘physical bookshelf’ to the ‘business Facebook page’, from ‘book sales’ to ‘sales through leads, interested from the network’ applies to writers, creators who must become entrepreneurs to break into the new markets”.
How did you start your way in the media world?
“I have been working in the field of media and communication for about 30 years since my youth as a producer, editor and reporter in the Galatz newsroom. A privilege and a great gift I received from the state. Israel was different then on a value level, in the early 1990s,” he winks. “On the airwaves of the IDF, I served as a military reporter, a political party reporter, I edited the program ‘Good Morning Israel’ presented by Guy Zohar and Yael Dan. I edited and founded the brand “Right for the morning”, presented by Rafi Reshef and Ilana Dayan. The show has been successfully broadcast every day since. alongside all these, Semrik presented new editions, flashbacks and current affairs programs.
And how did you get from interviews on IDF radio to accompanying businessmen who want to tell their story?
“Actually, the charm of telling a story was always there. All these years, even when I edited and presented the programs “Straight to the Heart” on Channel 2 – a long-standing talk show that aired for many years on network broadcast nights, and had the privilege of hosting amazing stories of anonymous people alongside Israel Prize laureates and Israel’s best artists; In the morning segment “The Published”, on Channel 10, and even when the company I founded produced and edited Yonit Levy’s first election coverage film in the United States in collaboration with News 2, or the films “New York City at War” – presented by Yaakov Eilon when we landed in New York after the fall of the Twins for network broadcasts I’ve always fallen in love with stories and the doors to them miraculously opened. The same is true today, all the knowledge and experience is directed to entrepreneurs who want to publish their story.”
“I and the team of the Contento Now company had the great privilege of creating the series presented by Tzufit Grant on Channel 10, “Who’s Afraid of Tzufit Grant” and “Real Hours” and, of course, “Friday with Tzufit Grant”, presented by Tzufit Grant. We created “Shishi Begaon”, presented by Yehoram Gaon in prime time Friday on Channel 1″. This program, which Semrik created with his team, was the most watched program at the time on Channel One. In front of it, the show “Wonderful Land” on Keshet Broadcasting went head-to-head in an attempt to fight the then ratings monster of Channel One, which fought head-to-head against Yigal Shilon and Tzvika Hadar.
“That’s how it is today,” Semrik explains, “we build formats and stories for entrepreneurs that aren’t necessarily TV anchors, but that digital, Facebook, and YouTube make it possible to create quality programs in the studios and, above all, to define the target audiences to whom we turn to create marketing campaigns. The story always opens the door and becomes the business card of the entrepreneur and the businessman”.
And what about documentaries?
“Definitely, it is a love story. Even when I edited ‘Ovda’ with Ilana Dayan, the story was always the magnet for me. I remember the film we made here at our international publishing house, about the photographer Yitzhak Rabin with 8 millimeter films when we uncovered a treasure trove that the family couldn’t remember where And of course the movie about the taxi driver’s killer Derek Roth was put on. The killer spoke to Samric’s cameras for the first time from inside Argentina’s maximum security prison. This is how today in Contento we create a series of films for entrepreneurs, hit makers and businessmen with fascinating stories.”
Books, films, marketing – always the story as the headliner.
From television you moved to books, once the Contento de Semrik company published mainly books and today?
“Contento de Semrik, which was established almost twenty years ago, has been operating in recent years mainly in China in the fields of book publishing, translation and production and branding in many languages. Contento Now has been operating at the same time in recent years in the field of stories – books, films, marketing for entrepreneurs and creators with fascinating stories. The story provides A framework for the entrepreneur’s professional work that we create in a series of interviews in our studios.”
Nathaniel Samrik has written and translated 7 books of his pen, the last of which is also published as a weekly show “Spirit for profit. From a story to success” unfolds the way and method by which every entrepreneur and hi-tech person can tell the story of the victory of his life – the spirit – and add to it the V. of the essay To generate profit: recognition, exposure, a supportive community and even marketing and sales that are the responsibility of the creator himself.

What is your story yourself? As an Israeli writer, journalist, publisher, TV presenter, director and documentary maker?
“All these years I have been accompanying people in the telling of their story, each of us is a creator who has a story that he wants to tell and bring to light.
