Plainville, MA – The public are invited to run with Devon Still, a former NFL football star, in the up-coming 5K and 10K race Run to Crush Cancer. Still has also agreed to speak and sign autographs at the event.
Still is the father of a cancer survivor. His daughter, Leah, had a form of stage 4 cancer known as Neuroblastoma.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the For Kid’s Sake Foundation, which helps with pediatric cancer research.
“Cancer is the number one disease killer of our children, but only 3.8 percent of cancer research funding goes toward pediatric cancer. That is why we have chosen to expand the non-profit, For Kids’ Sake Foundation to raise money for Neuroblastoma research as well as for families of children diagnosed with Neuroblastoma,” explained Glen Jusczyk, co- creator of the foundation with his wife Megan.
Their daughter, Malia, is a Neuroblastoma survivor, just like Still’s daughter.
For families affected by Neuroblastoma, the medical costs alone typically exceed $500,000 with many costs not covered by health insurance, this experience can devastate a family financially, according to the Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Society.
Those who would like to participate in the race on June 23, 2019 in Plainville’s Telford Park, or for those who may just want to make a donation, may CLICK TO REGISTER.
Participants will be able to run with Still, and get autographs and photos with him after the race, according to Jusczyk.
