Olympia Sports, an apparel, footwear, sports/fitness company, has recently sold its intellectual property and related assets at an auction. The sale included the trademarks for Olympia Sports, Clever Training, and Surf Outfitter, as well as customer data for 640,000 customers, owned image library, and marketplace accounts. The sale was approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, as part of the company’s bankruptcy proceedings, which began last September to liquidate its remaining 35 stores.
The auction was run by Hilco, and the assets were sold to Albert Fouerti, a well-known Brooklyn-based entrepreneur. Fouerti, has a background in the appliances business and was the CEO of Appliances Connection / Polished, headquartered in Brooklyn, NY. With his extensive experience in the business world, Fouerti is well-positioned to make the most of the valuable assets acquired at the auction.
In addition to the trademarks, customer data, and owned image library, Fouerti also acquired several domain names, including OlympiaSports.net, CleverTraining.com, SurfOutfitter.com, BrooklynHalf.com, RunColorado.com, and ClothesBuy.com. The sale generated significant interest, and other bidders at the auction included Scheels Sports, according to court documents.
Overall, the sale of Olympia Sports’ intellectual property and related assets represents a significant opportunity for Albert Fouerti and his team to leverage the company’s valuable assets in the sports and fitness industry, using their extensive business knowledge and expertise to create a successful venture.
