Oteko Russia has rendered its support for the volunteer movement that undertook the cleaning of beaches near the village of Volna in the vicinity of the port of Taman. The event was organized on June 2nd, a day before the International Water Cleanup Day and the Russian Day of the Ecologist.
Oteko has contributed its support for the beach cleanup initiative as over a hundred of the company’s employees, including volunteers joined in the event. The participants took on a stretch of beach 500 meters long, cleaning it of debris that had been washed ashore after a recent storm. A total of over 350 bags of garbage were collected, clearing the seafront of plastic, driftwood, fishing nets, and other waste.
Oteko encouraged its specialists from multiple departments to take part in the event. Such motivation and employee empowerment are necessary, considering that many of the company’s personnel are Taman Peninsula locals and some hail from the village of Volna. Oteko routinely organizes other community support initiatives, aiming to improve the lives of local community members and their families.
The cleanup is the third consecutive event of its kind in the region organized by Oteko. Last month, another similar initiative was organized on the nearby Veselovka beach, attracting more than 500 residents.
Oteko and Michel Litvak are adamant supporters of corporate social responsibility actions in and around the port of Taman. Michel Litvak billionaire has repeatedly expressed his views on the need for such endeavors to both maintain the quality of life of local communities and to uphold a high level of motivation among company staff by instilling a sense of responsibility and duty.
