Over 22,000 Whiskey Hill Smokehouse L.L.C Beef, Vension and Ostrich Jerky Products Have Successfully Been Recalled

In the beginning of 2017, Whiskey Hill Smokehouse L.L.C, a Hubbard,Ore. establishment began recalling their beef, vension and ostrich jerky products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. As of June 2017, over 20,000 products had been recalled. This was because the product contained soy, which is a known allergen. This was not mentioned on the product label.

According to the USDA there have not been any confirmed reports of allergic reactions due to eating any of the Whiskey Hill Smokehouse jerky. A full list of the products that were recalled is available below:

The following Whiskey Hill Smokehouse beef jerky products were recalled successfully:

  • 3.2-oz plastic packages containing “Bakke Brothers Brand HONEY GLAZED BEEF JERKY”
  • 3.2-oz plastic packages containing “Bakke Brothers Brand CHILI ‘LICIOUS BEEF JERKY”
  • 3.2-oz and 7-oz plastic packages containing “Bakke Brothers Brand SCORPION PEPPERED BEEF JERKY”
  • 3.2-oz and 7-oz plastic packages containing “Bakke Brothers Brand CAROLINA REAPER PEPPERED BEEF JERKY”
  • 3.5-oz plastic packages containing “PAINTED HILLS GRASS-FED BEEF JERKY Sweet Honeycomb”
  • 3.2-oz plastic packages containing “Mt. Shadow Foods, LLC Peppered Beef Jerky”
  • 3.2-oz plastic packages containing “Mt. Shadow Foods, LLC Honey Jalapeño Beef Jerky”
  • 3.0-oz plastic packages containing “WHISKEY HILL SMOKEHOUSE TROPHY SERIES OSTRICH JERKY”
  • 3.0-oz plastic packages containing “MAUINUI VENISON GOURMET JERKY” with “Lot Number” and “Best by”

With the recalling of these products, Whiskey Hill Smokehouse is taking the fundamental step towards rebranding their product and ensuring that the safety of their customers is ensured. It is expected that the product might be labeled properly, and soy will be mentioned as one of its ingredients this time.

Being a known allergen, it is imperative for it to be mentioned thoroughly on the labels.
