Palmdale School District Pledges to Provide Quality Learning Environments with their Facilities Master Plan

As a part of the Palmdale PROMISE, Palmdale School District created a Facilities Master Plan that reflects the key elements of the Palmdale PROMISE. The Palmdale PROMISE stands for Pursuing Remarkable Opportunities to Marshal Innovation, Inspiration, and Imagination for Success & Engagement, and the acronym represents Palmdale’s leadership strategy for dramatically improving educational outcomes for Palmdale’s students. The Facilities Master Plan establishes key facility improvements that positively impact students’ education quality and to directly affect the outcome of Palmdale PROMISE.

As a part of the Facilities Master Plan Mission Statement, Palmdale pledges to:

  • Provide facilities for students and staff that provide a safe, healthy learning environment

  • Provide quality construction and economical designs that serve the needs of schools

  • Actively seek funding options and utilize taxpayer dollars in the most cost-effective manner.

Guiding Principles were established for the Facilities Master Plan, creating a solid tie to the Palmdale PROMISE mission:

Projects currently being undertaken by the District include plans to update play fields and playgrounds, provide new shaded areas for students to play and eat lunch, refinish parking lots and sidewalks, add water bottle fillers, paint all exteriors and much more. These projects not only add to the safety of each school site but also instill a sense of pride in the school as students notice the beautification taking place. Other projects include Maker Spaces – where students will have hands-on experiences with STEM activities, updating electrical and data lines, creating Future Learning Environments and installing newer technology to aid teachers and students in their 21st-century education.

Phase 1 of Palmdale School District’s Facilities Master Plan currently has plans for projects at every school in the district. For a full preview of Phase 1, visit https://www.palmdalesd.org/cms/lib/CA02000054/Centricity/Domain/51/Site%20Pages%20for%20Projects.pdf.
