Brooklyn, NY – Reality leaves much to our imagination, and it seems the gap is now being filled up by virtual reality and other emerging technologies. Since these gadgets are new and perplexing even for adults, Pixel Academy has announced a new event called Future STEM Technology Playground. The free event for kids above seven years will be held in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn on Saturday, May 13, 2017 between 12:00-3:00 pm EDT.
The near future holds many surprises, which will certainly include drones, holograms and virtual reality gadgets as necessary tools for future trades. Today’s kids will do well to prepare in advance and excel in handling them when they reach the new workplaces of tomorrow. At the free event, they can test their drone piloting skills with custom flying challenges such as landing on a target, or speeding through hoops to deliver cargo.
The Future STEM Technology Playground is where kids will have the most fun playing around and testing their technology skills. Families are welcome to visit the Cobble Hill makerspace and check out what new advances in virtually reality have in store for them. An immersive VR Zone has been set up specifically to introduce the latest tracking technologies from the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive. Kids will especially love volumetric displays and as yet unreleased holographic technologies from the Brooklyn-based company Looking Glass.
Pixel Academy specializes in delivering fun, stimulating, STEM-focused educational experiences to kids ages 7-14. Using a project-based approach, children are encouraged to explore their creativity on a range of technologies, from designing a 3D model plane, learning fundamental coding concepts, to even producing their own video games.
The Future STEM Technology Playground is just one of the many initiatives of Pixel Academy, which aims to bring professional-grade technology and methods related to topics that are recognized at A.P. and college level computer science curriculum to younger learners. The event promises to be an unmissable technology extravaganza for an intriguing, hands-on introduction to the newly emerging world of virtual reality.
