PlayerAuctions PUBG Update: PUBG Survival Series Already on Its Way

31 January, 2018 – PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will have a new league, the PUBG Survival Series. The event will take place in Korea this year.

A League of Many Firsts

Although Brendan Greene, the creator of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), thinks that the game is not quite ready to hit the eSports scene, OGN, a South Korean TV channel dedicated to gaming, built a studio designed explicitly for the PUBG Survival Series. Both the studio, which has over 80 PCs in a single instance and a PUBG tournament with this setup are the first of their kind. This will also be the first time a Korean tournament will be broadcast in English, as many of the teams competing will be from Europe and North America.

PUBG Survival Series by The Numbers

There are two modes of matches, squad, and solo, and each one has an individual league. 35 groups are competing in squad; 20, which are from the top five of each qualifying group, are in the PSS, while the remaining 15 teams will compete in the PSSC. Finishing rankings determine the points and kills give bonus points. For every match, the bottom five teams from PSS will be moved to PSSC, while PSSC’s top five will advance to PSS. This will continue until 14 teams remain, which will compete in the finals.

As for solo, the 140 players from the 35 teams will be divided into two groups of 70. The top 80 players will go to the decider match. From there, the top 56 will be going head-to-head with one another in the finals.
