San Antonio Rapper Thuggizzle Breaks Mold Rising to Success From Foster Homes & Devoting Himself to Social Causes

Phillip Hodge, aka Thuggizzle, is a true foster care success story, having lived through the experience to become a widely-praised, well-regarded rap artist known for both his freestyle skills and his charity work helping foster care centers and raising awareness of sexual abuse in the community.

January 14, 2019 – The rap world is full of stories of skilled MC’s who rose from poverty to find financial success.  San Antonio, Texas-based rising rap star Phillip Hodge, who performs under the name Thuggizzle, is all that and more.  A true foster care success story, the gifted lyricist who recently released the popular song and video “Get Cha Hustle Up”, is not just interested in elevating his own and inner circle’s situation he also been very active trying to raise awareness and help motivate others who find themselves in foster homes and victims of sexual abuse.  Not just speaking about these subjects, which can be difficult enough, he has organized social media and online campaigns around “I Am Not Alone”, for sexual abuse education and support, with a very active presence on Facebook and YouTube.

“For me, having experienced sexual abuse, and being a foster care success story, I find rap to be a form of therapy,” commented the passionate lyricist. “Some of my skill is god given and some developed through hard work but I am doing my best to put it to good use.  It’s very possible to do a song like ‘Get Cha Hustle Up’ and use it to open the door to conversations that people from our community don’t often have or try to avoid.  I want my fans and beyond to know they are not alone.”

As a rap artist, the Southern-influence on Thuggizzle is clear, but his work definitely shines uniquely in wordplay and his ability to freestyle at a moment’s notice, with his very hypnotic flow. This is evident both in his studio work and seeing him just pick up a mic and rhyme just off the top of his head, leaving listeners who appreciate the art form breathless.

Being the victim of sexual abuse is a very difficult thing to open up about and Phillip Hodge / Thuggizzle has done this himself online and off to try to set an example that having had these thing happen does not make one less of a man or a woman and that it certainly doesn’t need to define who they are for the rest of their lives. This honesty and effort is akin to what he delivers in his music and is a sure guarantee the world will be hearing much more from the artist and activist in 2019 and beyond as he continues to set an example very worthy of being followed.

Thuggizzle remarked, “Let’s stand together and give back to those in need”.
