French energy management giant Schneider Electric has formally completed the acquisition of EcoAct, four months after it announced it had entered negotiations to buy the Paris-headquartered climate consultancy from its parent Atos.
In a statement released earlier this week, Schneider Electric and EcoAct said the acquisition would bring together two “best-in-class” organisations and help “accelerate business solutions that deliver true value for both the climate and clients”.
“We have long admired the team at EcoAct, and bringing our two organisations together will help us to accelerate the ability to serve our clients all over the world,” said Steve Wilhite, president of Schneider Electric’s sustainability business. “Companies understand the urgency to act but continue to face complexities when it comes to decarbonisation.
“I’m confident that our combined best-in-class teams will help our clients to accelerate even faster towards their net zero ambitions.”
EcoAct’s portfolio of net zero and nature-based products and services – including consulting, climate data tools, and carbon offset project development – will be subsumed into Schneider Electric’s sustainability division, according to the update.
The business unit already provides a range of decarbonisation and energy advisory services to companies looking to meet climate goals and cut energy costs.
EcoAct CEO Stuart Lemmon said “urgent climate action was at the heart of [EcoAct’s] mission”.
“The company’s own demonstrated commitments to net zero – in its own operations and for its clients – speaks loudly in the market,” Lemmon said. “Our ‘EcoActors’ are excited to join together with another leading advisory team, putting climate and nature centre stage to accelerate sustainable corporate transformation.”
