October 19, 2020 – Screenplay writer will feature at the 15th Annual Peachtree Village International Film Festival (PVIFF) after earning a spot as a finalist at the event. The festival will take place virtually October 29 – November 1, 2020. Gayles is known for writing stories that expose the harsh realities of life, and for showing how these can be overcome and won over with a person’s spiritual connection with God.
Gayles reveals one of the inspirations behind her successful screenplay writing career is the admiration she has for the classic movie “New Jack City”. When someone placed a bet that she could not possibly write a sequel to the movie as its star had died a tragic death, she picked up the pen.
Today, Gayles thinks her screenplays and characters have those attributes that can change the world, one script at a time. From comedies to dramas, she knows how to convey messages that carry the transformative power, especially for middle aged, urban audiences. Not in a hurry to change the world, Gayles keeps herself busy honing her craft and often steps out of the comfort zone to explore new genres and even societies.
For the Peachtree Village International Film Festival, Gayles came up with a unique story of Delicious Dejon, who has been brought up by her promiscuous mother to use her charms to get what she wants in the corporate world. Their husbands own multi-million dollar businesses, and when trouble strikes, Dejon and her mother come up with a scheme to take over their businesses and destroy the men.
“Screen writers are important to the success of film. It all starts in the mind and from the mind to the page. We applaud all our screenplay finalists this year because we consider this year to be the best class yet. The stories presented this year were amazing. We applaud Ms. Gayles for her creativity and we wish her the best in this year’s competition,“ said Len Gibson, PVIFF CEO/Founder.
Theresa Gayles continues to weave new characters so that the audience may come across a story that changes their lives. Gayles has also won the bet and wrote the sequel to “New Jack City” just for fun but not as an official version. You can join Gayles on Thursday, Oct. 29th at 12 p.m. on PVIFF’s Instagram page (@pviff) for a short live table read of her award nominated screenplay “Delicious and Her Jezebel Spirit.”
