Mannheim Steamroller’s annual Christmas tour will begin this year on November 15. Two traveling groups will perform at locations across the United States. The bands will perform in intimate venues to share music of the holiday season.
Mannheim Steamroller began as an alias for composer and producer Chip Davis. He formed his own label, American Gramaphone, after no major label would distribute his album, Fresh Aire. Eight Fresh Aire albums were released with different themes, including the seasons and mythology. The band has also released a series of Christmas recordings with contemporary interpretations of classic holiday carols. The group has sold a total of over 28 million albums.
The Mannheim Steamroller Christmas tour is a holiday tradition for many families. It is one of the music industry’s longest-running tours. This year will be the 32nd anniversary of the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas tour.
In 2008, Davis hired musicians to replace him on tour after he underwent surgery. He also created two groups to tour, known as the “red” and “green” touring companies.
Founder and Grammy Award winner Davis will direct and co-produce performances of the tour with MagicSpace Entertainment. Shows will include classic Christmas music and multimedia effects.
