Shane Krauser made a compelling case to a few hundred people who attended an event commemorating the 1787 adoption of the U.S. Constitution. Attendees came from all over the southwest to take part in the gathering that was held in Mesa, Arizona.
“Parts of our culture have bought into the notion that our founding documents are outdated, archaic, and, some even contend, evil. That can only be true if our culture has become an enemy to freedom,” said Krauser, who taught constitutional law for over a decade at the collegiate level.
Using some of the younger attendees to help illustrate various points, Krauser took the crowd through a journey of what occurred leading up to the adoption of America’s governing document.
“To understand how unique and exceptional this document is,” argued Krauser, “one must analyze it against the backdrop of 1786, 1686, and 1586. These ideas around freedom and self-government were uncommon, as very few cultures historically had ever experienced any semblance of real freedom. Something incredibly unique happened here.”
Shane Krauser talked about the gathering of notable figures such as James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin.
“How likely is it that, in a population of 2.5 million people along the Atlantic Seaboard, this caliber of men are found in one general location? This cannot be a coincidence. My personal belief is that God raised these men up,” said Krauser, who has spoken at over 3,000 events internationally.
Krauser also discussed the rapid progress made in the first century of the “American experiment.”
“From horse and buggy for thousands of years to flying airplanes in a relatively short time after our Constitution is ratified! Make no mistake about what occurred here. When you protect freedom and allow people to keep what they earn, massive prosperity is inevitable,” exclaimed Krauser.
Shane Krauser also addressed other cumulative evidence found in the Constitution that he believes points to the exceptional, and even divine, nature of the document, including the separation of powers doctrine, popular sovereignty, a guarantee of a republican form of government, and a foundation grounded in agency and freedom.
“The reality is that the freedom and prosperity that has occurred in America and consequently throughout the world, happened because of our charters of freedom, not in spite of them. The underlying components that brought about these exceptional results are worth defending and restoring,” said Krauser, whose mother immigrated to the U.S. from Switzerland.
Also present was a youth choir led by Panda Jobe and accompanied by Jane Rosen, both of Gilbert, Arizona. Joe Jobe was the emcee for the event.
Shane Krauser travels the country extensively teaching community groups, church congregations, political organizations, and public, charter, and homeschool classes about the relevance of America’s founding documents and how to advocate for the underlying principles of freedom in the midst of today’s culture.
