German pop artist Vanessa Tuna is quickly gaining worldwide recognition. In addition to her four octave vocal range, Vanessa writes, composes and produces all of her songs. With her new single “Sign”, she shows her versatility with a fusion of unlikely styles.
Of German and Turkish descent, Vanessa comes from a family of artists (her father is a guitarist and her mother a dancer). She stepped onto the stage at 13, and has never looked back. Vanessa has sung vocals for soul legend Chaka Khan, Chris de Burgh and Bobby Kimball from TOTO. She was also the winner of the Los Angeles Music Academy Best European Musicians Contest. She performed in various concerts and events in many European countries, and was the featured soloist in the Amato Haute Couture fashion show in Dubai.
Vanessa has had ?ve singles that have made it to the FMQB Charts in the United States. Four of them broke into the Top 40. Her ballad “We Will Meet Again” made it to #29 of the most added Top 40/AC songs in a ?rst week. The single then remained in the Top 200 for more than one year. For his SoundCloud project, Snoop Dogg invited new artists to produce a song from his instrumental tracks. Vanessa’s version, titled “Let Me Be Tha One” ft. Snoop Dogg, gained so much interest that the single then received airplay on 162 U.S. radio stations and was approved and played on 23 Billboard stations. On KV10 Media the single made it to #1 on both the R&B/ Pop chart and the Hip Hop chart. Vanessa’s song “The Voice” had its’ world premiere in Spain, and was broadcast by the German national television network (ZDF). Written as a tribute to her icon Whitney Houston, the song was also the centerpiece for the show “One Moment In Time” which Vanessa headlined at the Friedrichsbau Variete in Germany.
Her new single “Sign” combines classical, electronic and R&B elements. With inspiration drawn from Mozart’s masterpiece “The Magic Flute”, it’s the ?rst time that she is incorporating elements of the classical style in her vocal performance. The single could be “thought provoking” – the lyrics can be interpreted in many ways. The creation of the song came intuitively for her: “There has never been a song in which both the music and lyrics ?owed out of my mind so freely. I can’t really describe it intellectually – Let the music speak for itself!”
