March 6, 2017 – Amidst the hustle bustle of Thailand community life, a group of local Stand Up Paddle (SUP) boarders have collaborated to reach out and help the less privileged out there. Known as the ‘Stand Up to Save Lives’ initiative, the core objective is to launch ‘MissionShip’; a medical boat providing health and medical services to remote areas in Myanmar (Burma), Papua New Guinea and other hard to reach island communities. With a team of professionals onboard, MissionShip will provide a mobile health clinic and fully staffed mother and child clinic as well as other healthcare services.
Often times, what society takes as granted, is most cherished in such areas where even the basic necessities of life are deemed as a luxurious commodity.
More details about ‘MissionShip’ and funding campaign available at https://GoGetFunding.com/SUP/ , http://www.MissionShip.com/ .
The Challenge: MissionShip needs a few remaining items before she can take to the seas and start her humanitarian mission. Donations on https://GoGetFunding.com/SUP/, the official Go Get Funding campaign page, will be spent on equipping the boat, transportation costs, MissionShip’s maintenance and supplies.
The Mission: The guys at ‘Stand Up to Save Lives’ initiative will be setting-off in mid-March 2017 to Stand Up Paddle from the Thai province of Krabi across the open ocean to the Island of Phuket. The team is looking to raise at least £5,000 (approx. $6,100) of donation money to equip MissionShip with 5 sets of sails, one of the few remaining big items needed before she can launch.
Patrick Vickers, one of the main backers and founding member of ‘MissionShip’, said the entire team was more than ecstatic to be cooperating with UNICEF and ROTARY INTERNATIONAL. “When I approached the local UNICEF office, they were overjoyed at the prospect of a new health mission ship voyage cruising across islands and remote communities. These areas lack clinics and hospital infrastructure, which greatly deteriorates the state of health for common men, women and children populating the regions.”
UNICEF’s support will also help the MissionShip to carry out with its daily activities without the hindrance of unnecessary last minute paperwork and third party requirements at government level. The authorities are expected to fully cooperate with the crew members throughout their voyage.
The need to help children across far corners of the world is directly going to impact future generations. The entire ‘Stand Up to Save Lives’ team is highly appreciative of each and every backer.
