Student Group launches Kickstarter Campaign to Send a Satellite to Space

Now Seeking Community Support via Kickstarter, UW Orbital is a Student Design Team from the University of Waterloo in Canada!

UW Orbital is a student design team from the University of Waterloo based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. This creative team of 60 students is building its very own CubeSat satellite that will be sent to space. The team is competing against other Canadian universities in a competition in 2023. CubeSats are low-cost alternatives to traditional multi-million dollar satellite projects. To send their satellite to space, this team of students has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, where it is welcoming generous community support and backing.

“We are hoping to launch our satellite into the space by winning the upcoming Canadian Satellite Design Challenge (CSDC) in 2023 because then we will receive funds from the CSDC for the launch of our CubeSat.” Said one of the team members at UW Orbital, while introducing this project to the Kickstarter community. “The dimensions of our 3U CubeSat are 10cm x 10cm x 30cm and it will carry two missions into the space including the Selfie-Sat Camera.” He added. Selfie-Sat is a camera that communicates to Amateur Radio Operators (AROs) to capture and downlink an image of a given coordinate.

The Kickstarter Campaign is located on the web at:

www.kickstarter.com/projects/uworbital/sending-a-cubesat-satellite-into-space and backers from around the world can become a part of this project by making generous pledges and donations.
