Calynn M. Lawrence is the 25-year-old CEO of the Calynn Communications & Creative corporation that offers marketing/media service to clients such as Chick-fil-A and various Fashion Weeks and owns several online publications that spotlight entertainment, entrepreneurs, and experts in their field. Some of these include “Millionaires In The Making”, “Icons In The Now”, “What’s Good Weekly” and her long-standing blog “Fashion Thunderclap.”
Her education is as diversified as her work experience, giving her the ability to analyze and strategize for her clients from several perspectives. Graduating 8th grade at Chicago Public Schools as Valedictorian and the selective enrollment Jones College Prep which was the #4 ranked high school in Illinois at that time, she attended a City College of Chicago for her degree against many’s expectations. For financial reasons and the flexibility of a community college schedule, she decided against the standard university route. She graduated there with a degree in Business and Art. Later, she went back to school online and gained several collegiate certificates in various areas of business and marketing. Her most recent and most notable three are from Harvard Business School Online through their edX program in Persuasive Communications, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship with overall course averages all above 97 percent!
While her career as a marketing management professional is rewarding, her heart is in her philanthropy! She is the Founder of the nonprofit initiative that she founded in 2014 during her senior year of high school, The Fresh Faces Project. It has provided free and discounted marketing and PR services to over 450 small businesses and creatives. She does this through a variety of methods such as offering them free press on her publications and affiliated sites, free interviews on 5-star rated her web series “Chicago Talent” and the chance to be an honoree at her annual invite-only Fresh Faces awards ceremony free of charge that she self-funds with no ticket sales, entry fees or nomination fees! With plans to greatly expand this movement in 2021, she hopes to help impact at least 1000 individuals by its 10-year anniversary in 2024!
She has amassed seventeen awards at the local, national and worldwide levels for her work. These include 4 Chicago Oscars, Woman of the Year, the National Humanitarian Leadership Award, 4 Virtual Visionary awards, the National Community Service Award and more!
In 2021, she will be doing her biggest product launch yet, a digital course that teaches small businesses and creatives the fundamentals of doing their own marketing and PR for a noticeably cheaper price than industry rate! The course will be titled “How To Master Marketing, The Media and The Masses: The First Wave.” It was designed to fulfill two purposes: providing those in need with the necessary tools to successfully advertise and build their brand for an affordable price, and to raise funds to further invest into her humanitarian efforts. A minimum of 20 percent of the proceeds will go towards The Fresh Faces Project!
When asked what her life goal is, she quotes the following “I want to be a full-time philanthropist by age 35. I want to generate enough income in my youth to be able to give a substantial amount of it away to those in need. I believe in the whole idea of giving while living, as I’ve seen modeled by some of my favorite business moguls. I want to leave this earth knowing that I reached as many people, touched as many hearts, and impacted as many lives as possible.”
