A historic treasure is uncovered by Marius Moneth, a PhD Student at the Heinrich Heine University of Dusseldorf in Germany and he is seeking public support on Kickstarter to back this project and bring the lost memories of the First World War to the common people. This project deals with the creation of a scientifically annotated photo book, which consists of hundreds of previously unpublished private photographs from the First World War from the point of view of German soldiers.
The illustrated book will be published both in digital form and as a printed book in two languages, German and English. Marius’s goal is to compile and share an illustrated book with the world. The book will consist of a number of private photography albums of a German officer from the First World War. Marius will compose the book with pictures of the albums, comments and translations to share his research with the world. The goal of this project is to raise €20,000 by 30th April, 2017 and everyone is welcome to make generous contributions.
Before starting his PhD, Marius did bachelor and master in history and he specialized in image history. As an additional subject, he studied English language, which enabled him to translate the albums and to compose the illustrated book in English. During the research for his doctoral thesis, he came across this unique collection of picture and photo albums from the Great War.
He discovered nine great albums from the experience of one German officer and these albums cover almost all the aspects of the war. This project consists of eight memory albums and a postcard album with about 591 photos and pictures from the point of view of German soldiers and these photos will give the viewers a great insight to the WW-I like never before.
All funds raised through this Kickstarter campaign will play a major role in bringing the lost memories of the Great War that were never seen before to a new light. Everyone, particularly the lovers of history are welcomed to back this project on Kickstarter.
