St. Xavier’s College has announced the return of Malhar, continuing the Conclave, an initiative of former Principal, Fr. Frazer Mascarenhas S.J. In a related development, the 2022 edition of the highly anticipated event will feature leading names as speakers, including Bezwada Wilson, Palki Sharma Upadhyay, Vidita Vaidya, Siddhartha Paul Tiwari, sharing their wealth of knowledge with attendees.
Malhar began in 1979 with a 30-member workforce, 20 events and 5 participating colleges. Over the years, it has grown to become the second biggest annual inter-collegiate festival in Asia. With a footfall of about 30,000 people and a workforce of over a thousand, working for three months, this student-run cultural experience promises to forge new skills and create lifelong memories. Malhar is making a return in its 42nd year after a 2-year break on-campus, with the event scheduled to hold on the 28th and 29th of August.
Themed ‘Aurora: Transcending Horizons’ to emphasise the dawn of a new era for Malhar, with bigger, better, bolder ideas, the event will feature the likes of Bezwada Wilson, Palki Sharma Upadhyay, Vidita Vaidya, Siddhartha Paul Tiwari. The speakers will educate attendees in line with the belief in the power of sharing knowledge and t incorporating meaningful discourse into this youth festival.
Bezwada Wilson, the keynote speaker, a human rights activist and the recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award, will be talking on the topic Towards Transformation: Initiating Change through Dialogue. He will be joined by Palki Sharma Upadhyay, a journalist and the Managing Editor of WION, as she talks about Objectivity and Opinion in Journalism. Other speakers are Siddhartha Paul Tiwari, a passionate educationist and technologist at Google Play Asia Pacific talking on Technology and Society: Present and Future and Dr. Vidita Vaidya, neuroscientist and professor at TIFR, who will talk on the topic A Serving of Serotonin: Reviving Psychedelics.
The powerful, information-packed event covers different subjects, thanks to the amazing lineup of speakers. Over the years, the Conclave has hosted several eminent speakers, including the Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Justice Leila Sheth, Dr. Raghuram Rajan, Narayan Murthy and P. Sainath among many others. Malhar Conclave celebrates the exchange and integration of ingenious ideas, thoughts, and disciplines and the 2022 edition will not be an exception, featuring a keynote address, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and performance sessions.
