Los Angeles, CA – December 11, 2018 – DARKCOAST brings Santa Claus to Mars for some Christmas fun!
TriCoast Entertainment’s horror division, DarkCoast will bring Director Nicholas Webster’s (Appointment With Destiny) Christmas cult-classic, SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS, to online digital platforms for out-of-this-world holiday fun today here: https://fandan.co/2C3hGFe.
“Using a small cast of unfamiliar faces, good color, a workable handful of sets (rather deftly integrated with documentary background footage), Paul Jacobson, the producer, has put together a Christmasy little movie, with science-fiction trimmings for fledgling astronauts,” wrote the New York Times.
Based on a story by Paul L. Jackson with an imaginative screenplay by Glenville Mareth, SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS follows Martians, who believe that TV shows from Earth have taken hold of all the children of Mars, as they extol the virtues of Santa Claus. Lead by their leader Kimar (Leonard Hicks), the Martians take advice from Kimar’s wife, Momar – to seek advice from Chochem, the Ancient One. She decrees that the children must have fun, and says that Mars needs a Santa Claus, just like Earth’s. As Kimar’s assembled crew to set forth on an expedition to Earth to capture Santa Claus (John Call), they notice one especially grumpy crewmember, Voldar (Vincent Beck), who reluctantly tags along for the ride.
While on Earth, the Martians’ eyes are wide open with disbelief of the hundreds of Santa replicas surrounding them. Their journey takes another twist when they encounter and kidnap two children, Billy (Victor Stiles) and Betty (Donna Conforti), who inform them of Santa’s real home, at the North Pole. Alongside a clumsy Martian dog, Dropo (Bill McCutcheon), Santa and the two children voyage to Mars where they overcome the evil Voldar and the Martians by bringing fun, happiness and Christmas cheer to all the children.
“John Call, as Santa, does his ho-ho-ho best, and Leonard Hicks and Vincent Beck play it straight as two Martian leaders, good and bad. As a kind of Martian Ed Wynn, Bill McCutcheon supplies humor not quite attuned to this planet anyway,” continued the New York Times.
SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS was originally released in the USA during November 1964 with the video title Santa Claus Defeats the Aliens. Now, the Christmas cult-classic will exclusively release by DarkCoast on digital streaming platforms (Dish, FlixFling, Vimeo on Demand, Fandango and Sling) beginning Dec. 10th.
SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS stars John Call (The Anderson Tapes), Leonard Hicks (Route 66), Vincent Beck (Firepower, Vigilante), Bill McCutcheon (Steel Magnolias, Sesame Street), Victor Stiles and Donna Conforti.
