Brussels, Belgium – September 20, 2024 – The greatly anticipated premiere of Verónica Rodríguez Pellegrini’s piano piece “Azulejos” will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the renowned Festival Osmose in Brussels. This exceptional concert will be held at 6:00 PM at the Espace Toots, Rue Stuckens 125, 1140 Brussels. The piece “Azulejos” written by Spanish violinist and composer Verónica Rodríguez Pellegrini, features pianist “Isis Larrère” alongside pieces from other contemporary composers.
The program is part of a series of concerts based on an international composition competition hosted by the festival. According to “Danielle Baas“, Artistic Director of Festival Osmose, this year saw an impressive influx of high-quality submissions, making the selection process challenging. “Azulejos,” composed by “Verónica Rodríguez-Pellegrini,” emerged as one of the standout pieces, chosen from among a large number of entries to be performed during the concert.
Verónica Rodríguez-Pellegrini is an accomplished violinist and composer based in Madrid, Spain. She holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance and has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the New World Symphony, “Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio y Televisión Española”, and the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her work as a performer, Pellegrini is an accomplished composer, with her works being featured on several prominent music labels, including “Shallam”, represented by BMG. Her portfolio includes instrumental pieces and a widely recognized Ethnic/World Music album, distributed by Miles of Music.
The Festival Osmose 2024 program offers a diverse range of musical experiences, designed to captivate the audience with its blend of tonal and atonal music. Featuring a variety of atmospheres and emotional palettes, the concert will bring together contemporary works from around the world. Each of the approximately 20 composers represented has contributed a unique piece lasting around three minutes, none of which have been previously performed in Belgium.
In addition to the rich musical program, the concert will include a virtual exhibition that showcases the works of 10 visual artists. Their art will be projected on-screen during the first two concerts, scheduled for September 25 and October 8, creating a seamless fusion of music and visual art to provide a multi-sensory experience for the audience.
“Isis Larrère”, a highly acclaimed pianist known for her ability to breathe life into modern compositions, will bring her interpretive skills to the premiere of “Azulejos.” The piece, inspired by the intricate beauty of the traditional Spanish and Portuguese ceramic tiles that share its name, weaves a rich tapestry of sound that reflects both the elegance and historical significance of these cultural motifs. Larrère’s nuanced understanding of contemporary music and her masterful technique will bring a vibrant voice to Pellegrini’s creation.
Festival Osmose, known for its commitment to promoting contemporary classical music, has grown in stature over the years, attracting both established and emerging composers from around the globe. This year’s program reflects the festival’s dedication to offering audiences a broad spectrum of modern works, from innovative tonal pieces to more avant-garde compositions.
