Julian Seume, Chief Marketing Officer at Wiferion recently discussed effective wireless charging for AGVs in Robotics Tomorrow. Read the full article here.
According to Seume, the trend towards lithium-ion batteries in intralogistics continues. Almost all large forklift manufacturers now have models with lithium-ion drives. In the field of driverless transport systems and mobile robots, powerful lithium-ion technology is already standard. Interim charging enables automated 24/7 operations which is critically important with two or three-shift operations at warehouses, distribution centers, 3PLs (third party logistics), and manufacturing facilities.
“Inductive charging also has numerous advantages in terms of data evaluation. The battery and charging system together form an overall solution for energy supply and are connected via a CAN interface. This means that all data on the energy level, operating times, and vehicle status can be recorded in real-time. Industry 4.0 applications such as condition monitoring or predictive maintenance can be executed,” shared Seume.
Robotics Tomorrow is an online trade magazine featuring products, companies, news, articles, and events for the advanced manufacturing, factory automation, and 3D printing industries.
About Wiferion
From inductive charging technology to energy management solutions, Wiferion offers a spectrum of products achieving efficient energy supply for industrial trucks, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), automated mobile robots (AMRs), and driverless transport systems. The technology also includes retrofit projects for existing fleets.
The flexible and scalable integration of Wiferion products means that users can sustainably increase utilization and fleet efficiency by up to 30%. Using lean manufacturing principles, Wiferion redefines the value stream mapping (VSM) by eliminating the unnecessary machine downtime and labor-intensive costs of plug-in charging.
From manufacturing to intralogistics, the Wiferion inductive battery charging system pioneered the etaLINK series which received prestigious awards such as the IFOY Award and “BEST PRODUCT” from LogiMAT. Wiferion will participate at ProMatDX, appropriately titled “Power Up” from April 12 – 16, 2021.
Wiferion, the leading solution provider for mobile, wireless power supply of electric industrial vehicles, was founded in 2016 by four former employees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems and one of the technology drivers in wireless charging. Wiferion is the foundation for a resource-saving and sustainable energy supply.
