The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) has partnered with Warner Unified School District to renovate school grounds and improve the daily learning experience.
ASCC is an organization formed for and by concrete contractors that works to improve the role of contractors and their businesses. Members have access to networking and resources to better equip themselves in their projects.
Warner Unified will be working specifically with The Community Projects, a specific branch of ASCC. This initiative provides organizations or entities the opportunity to pursue construction projects that they are not able to fund and build on their own. All of parts of the process are provided for free, including the designs, materials, and actual construction. ASCC recruits finishers and laborers from member companies to volunteer 3-5 days to work on the project together. ASCC started to dedicate time and resources to these causes in 2006. Just five months after Hurricane Katrina, a group of volunteers provided the manpower and materials to rebuild the hardscape in a park in New Orleans. Since then, volunteers have worked on wide range of projects that range from school playgrounds to gardens and patios for veterans. Recently, ASCC completed a day-care in Chicago, a Veterans Memorial, and the Visitors Center at Pearl Harbor.
Warner Unified will receive new sidewalks that highlight students’ art work as well as the culture and art styles of the local community and Native tribes. ASCC will build a new concrete amphitheater, student game area with ping-pong tables and corn-hole games, along with an improved basketball court. Warner Unified is excited to receive this generous support and we are hopeful that completion of the project will have a grand impact on students throughout the district. This is a much needed face-lift for the campus. The timing for this project is perfect as these new physical changes will coincide with many other positive changes taking place at our school.
